Rj. Pollard, THE COSTING AND PRICING OF CONTRACTED MOSSBAUER-SPECTROSCOPY - AN INSTITUTIONAL VIEW, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 76(1-4), 1993, pp. 431-433
Mossbauer spectroscopy has matured towards having a strong emphasis on
industrial applications, however nearly all of its practitioners rema
in in universities or in government institutions. Possible reasons for
the paucity of Mossbauer spectrometers in the industrial environment
are given. One explanation is that Mossbauer spectroscopists in instit
utions do not properly price measurements performed for firms. In the
long term, undercharging is to the detriment of industrial application
s of the Mossbauer effect. To help institution-based workers value the
ir work, details of costing and pricing Mossbauer measurements perform
ed for industry are provided.
