Abstract
Stress concentrations due to pore shape are questioned as a fundamenta l determinant of mechanical property-porosity relations, especially el astic property-porosity relations. On the other hand, actual solid loa d-bearing areas, especially minimum solid areas of porous bodies, clea rly are a determinant of mechanical property-porosity effects. The cor relation of pore shape-stress concentration effects with elastic prope rties of ceramics can be explained by the correlation of pore shapes w ith minimum solid areas.
