Poly(5-vinylsalicylidene-2-benzothiazoline) homopolymer (PVSBH2) and p
olymer complexes of 5-vinylsalicylidene-2-benzothiazoline with a numbe
r of divalent transition metals have been prepared and characterized u
sing spectral (H-1 NMR and C-13-NMR, IR, UV-VIS) and magnetic measurem
ents. The data suggest that the Co(II), Ni(II), Fe(II) and Mn(II) poly
mer complexes are octahedral dimers, while the rest are monomeric with
square planar tetrahedral geometries.
