Abstract
For several different procedures and material combinations adhesive Cl ass V composite restorations were made under clinical and under labora tory conditions. Marginal discrepancy and gap formation at the floor o f the cavity was recorded by way of SEM on replicas. Only weak correla tion could be demonstrated between results obtained from in vivo and i n vitro placed restorations. In general the hydrophobic resinous bondi ng systems performed better under laboratory conditions while the hydr ophillic glass ionomer lining led to a better marginal integrity under clinical circumstances.
