Abstract
Taking the successfull use of the Encephalopathy-Questionaire E-F in c linical practice and research as an example, it has been demonstrated that a sufficiently reliable psychometric analysis of children's probl em-behaviour can be elicited from rating-scale assessments made by oth ers. In spite of the critical reflection on the encephalopathy-concept , the questionaire gives a characteristic behaviour pattern. New rater -specific (mothers, teachers) and sex-specific (boys, girls) norms are given.
