Abstract
2-Ethoxycarbonyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone (1) reacts with piperidine, methy lamine and anthranilic acid to give the Mannich bases and 4H-3,1-benzo xazin-4-one derivatives. The behaviour of the latter towards some nitr ogen nucleophilic has been described. Compound 1 also reacts with hydr azine and gives the corresponding hydrazide (8), the behaviour of whic h towards aldehydes, ketones, and phenyl isocyanate has also been disc ussed.
