Do. Henderson et al., ADSORPTION-KINETICS OF EGDN ON ZNO BY DIFFUSE REFLECTANCE INFRARED FOURIER-TRANSFORM SPECTROSCOPY, Applied spectroscopy, 47(4), 1993, pp. 528-532
Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) w
as used to follow the adsorption kinetics of ethyleneglycol dinitrate
(EGDN) on zinc oxide as a function of dosing time. Inhomogeneous broad
ening of the NO2 antisymmetric stretching vibration was found to be do
se dependent. Through nonlinear curve-fitting techniques, the sum of t
hree component bands was found to reproduce the inhomogeneously broade
ned envelope and was attributed to two different types of adsorbed EGD
N corresponding to on-end and bridged sites on a zinc rich surface of
zinc oxide. The adsorbed EGDN species were characterized by their line
-shape parameters and adsorption kinetics.
