Ak. Kaw et Nj. Pagano, AXISYMMETRICAL THERMOELASTIC RESPONSE OF A COMPOSITE CYLINDER CONTAINING AN ANNULAR MATRIX CRACK, Journal of composite materials, 27(6), 1993, pp. 540-571
An elasticity solution to the problem of an annular crack in a concent
ric cylinder under a remote uniform axial strain and constant temperat
ure change is found. Stress intensity factors at the crack tips and th
e stresses at the interface are studied to determine the nature of the
crack growth in the composite. These parameters are studied as a func
tion of the elastic moduli and the thermal expansion coefficients of t
he constituents, the fiber volume ratio, crack geometry, and interface
properties.
