Abstract
High-gain and high-saturation output power optical amplifiers operatin g in the 1.3 mum wavelength region have been successfully fabricated b y using a compressive-strained multiple-quantum-well active region. Op tical gain as high as 27 dB and 3-dB saturation output power as high a s 14 dBm were simultaneously demonstrated.
