Y. Yin et al., A STUDY OF NEUTRON-ACTIVATION TRACER SEDIMENT TECHNIQUE, Science in China. Series A, Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy & Technological Sciences, 36(2), 1993, pp. 243-247
In this study, iridium (Ir) was selected as a signal element, the chem
ical adsorption tagging method was adopted to make the tracer sediment
s, the neutron activation analysis method was used to determine the si
gnal element content in sediments, and the sediment transport law was
judged according to the movement characteristics of the signal element
s. This method overcomes the shortcomings of the fluorescent sediment
technique and radioactive tracer sediment technique. It is capable of
simulating truly the movement characteristics of natural sediments. Th
erefore, it is an advanced technique for observation of the sediment m
ovement. The expectant effects were obtained in the experiment on the
first domestic practical application of this method carried out in Tia
njin Port.
