Abstract
This paper provides a general overview of some methodological and arch itectural issues regarding Computer-Aided Production Management (CAPM) , with the purpose of identifying future research directions. Models a nd methodologies and manufacturing control philosophies are briefly di scussed. Some issues related to the validation of Decision Support Sys tems (DSS) in this domain are then raised. Hierarchical approaches to CAPM are subsequently focused upon, with emphasis on integrative appro aches.
