Six schedules of plastic deformation of VT23 alloy were studied (lengt
hwise rolling followed by cross rolling at different temperatures) to
determine the conditions ensuring a sufficiently large fraction of bas
is texture in the plane of rolled sheet over the entire thickness of i
t. X-Ray analysis was used to plot inverse pole figures. Maximum basis
fraction in the rolled sheet is achieved by direct rolling at a tempe
rature that is adequate for obtaining an acute prismatic texture [1120
BAR] in the direction normal to the sheet plane with subsequent cross
rolling which results in intensive primary twinning and absence of sec
ondary twinning.
