During measurements of mass-changes with the electrochemical quartz-mi
crobalance (E-QMB) changes of the visco-elastic properties of the cont
acting medium (liquids and/or films) can occur. If such changes are no
t taken into account in the evaluation of the observed frequency-chang
es, erroneous results will normally be obtained. The problem is analyz
ed on the basis of the system's impedance. Methods for correcting resu
lts obtained with impedance-analyzers and with feedback-driver circuit
s are presented.
