Abstract
The valence band (VB) electronic state of the transition metal silicid es, Pd2Si and PdSi, is studied by X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES), a nd it is proposed that the Si(s) electronic state is present near the Fermi edge of the VB density of states (VB-DOS) of Pd silicides. This conclusion is in clear contrast to a previous proposal, where it is cl aimed that the upper part of the valence band of transition metal sili cide consists only of Si(3p)-metal(d) hybridized states.
