Abstract
A series of new bis[p-(phenylethynyl)phenyl] hetarylenes was obtained by cross-coupling between heteroaromatic dibromides and phenylacetylen e catalyzed by phosphine complexes of palladium in the presence of CuI and an organic base. Bis[p-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]hetarylenes were oxi dized to the corresponding bis[p-(phenylglyoxalyl)phenyl]hetarylenes u sing the I-2-DMSO system.
