Twenty-four implants were placed in the jaws of five dogs for evaluati
on of the possibility of correcting local resorption. Implants and sur
rounding tissues were evaluated clinically, radiographically, and hist
ologically for periods of 3 to 24 months. The implants were clinically
and radiographically stable. Some were surrounded by connective tissu
e fibers and others were bonded to underlying cortical bone.
