Abstract
The author describes the use of external skeletal fixation in the mana gement of complicated septic limb fractures. Eight fractures in seven patients were treated at Sololo General Hospital using a low cost, sim ple external device, with good results. The report emphasizes how exte rnal fixation can solve difficult fracture cases in small up-country h ospitals; a good example of appropriate technology at district level.
