Abstract
In this correspondence, we show that the algorithm proposed by Tekalp and Erdem for Fourier phase reconstruction indeed gives the least squa res (LS) estimate of the phase. This is important because the Tekalp-E rdem estimator has a much simpler implementation, as compared with som e other least squares approaches, because it only involves averaging i n the log-spectrum domain. We also show that this estimator can be use d to obtain the least squares estimate of the log-Fourier modulus.
