Abstract
Thorium was determined in a liver autopsy sample from a person treated with Thorotrast ca 40 y earlier The decay products Ac-228, Ra-224, Pb -212, Bi-212, and Tl-208 from the Th-232 series were identified by dir ect gamma-spectrometry. Instrumental neutron activation analysis yield ed a value of ca 22 g thorium per kg dry liver material. The total rad iation dose to the whole liver was estimated in the order of 16 Gy.
