Seven new ruthenium complexes containing tridentate oxygen ligands hav
e been prepared: [(C6H6)Ru(P3O9)]-[N(C4H9)4] (1), [(p-cymene)Ru(P3O9)]
[N(C4H9)4] (2), [(p-cymene)Ru(Nb2W4O19)] [N(C4H9)4]2 (3), [(C6H6)-Ru(
CpTiW5O18)][N(C4H9)4](4), [(CH3CN)3Ru(P3O9)][N(C4H9)4].CH3CN (5), [(C
8H12)Ru(NH2NC(CH3)2)-(P3O9)][N(C4H9)4].CH3COCH3 (6), and [(C8H12)Ru(CH
3CN)(P3O9)][N(C4H9)4].0.5H2O (7). Two of these compounds were structur
ally characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques:
compound 5 [a = 24.564(4) angstrom, b = 9.222(2) angstrom, c = 15.693(
3) angstrom, Z = 4, space group Pca2(1)-C5(2v) (No. 29)] and compound
6 [a = 10.969(2) angstrom, b = 11.230(2) angstrom, c = 17.021(3) angst
rom, alpha = 74.87(2)-degrees, beta = 74.98(2)-degrees, gamma = 76.18(
2)-degrees, Z = 2, space group P1BAR-Cli (No. 2)]. The remaining compl
exes were formulated and assigned structures on the basis of their ele
mental composition and the similarity of their infrared spectra and mu
ltinuclear NMR spectra with those of isostructural species whose molec
ular structures have been established crystallographically.
