This paper describes an analytical model that was developed to predict
the performance of finned-tube heat exchangers under frosting conditi
ons. The method models the frost growth mechanism and heat exchanger p
erformance in a comprehensive manner. The results include frost accumu
lation and its effect on energy transfer in relation to varying humidi
ties, fin densities and ambient conditions.
