Vegetative and reproductive behaviour of four table olive cultivars, '
Conservolia,' 'Manzanilla,' 'Nocellara del Belice' and 'Picholine,' re
spectively native of Greece, Spain, Italy and France, were studied in
Sicily (37-degrees 30' Lat.). All the cultivars proved to be self ster
ile, showed very similar crop load adjustment, fruit development and s
hoot growth patterns. 'Picholine' was a good pollinizer for 'Conservol
ia,''Manzanilla' and 'Nocellara del Belice,' while 'Manzanilla' and 'N
ocellara del Belice' behaved better as pollinizers for 'Picholine.'
