J. Riha et al., THE EFFECTS OF LACTATE-DEHYDROGENASE VIRUS (LDV) ON THE REPRODUCTIVE-PERFORMANCE AND HEALTH OF BOVINE FEMALES, Zivocisna vyroba, 38(3), 1993, pp. 223-238
A positive LDV antibody test was recorded in 41.8 % tested females, a
doubtful in 6.3 % and a negative in 51.9 %. Highly significant differe
nces (P < 0.01) were found in the frequencies of positive and/or negat
ive LDV antibody tests as related to clinical examination of reproduct
ion and/or metabolic level and to health of bovine females. In positiv
ely tested females, antibodies were transferred to their progeny. The
effects of LDV antibody presence on the concentration of urea, Ca and
P in the blood, activity ALP and AST in the blood, on milk fat and mil
k acidity, lactase content and SCC value were demonstrated as well. Th
e male progeny of positively tested females was characterized by a non
-significant, lower body weight to 6 months of age.
