Abstract
Previous experiences affect the behavior of cattle when they are handl ed. Cattle which are handled gently will be easier to handle in the fu ture. The use of aversive methods of restraint should be avoided. Ther e is a need for a better restraint chute design. A hydraulic chute is safer for both the cattle and the veterinarian, but it is essential th at the pressure relief valve be properly adjusted.
