Abstract
The deuterium kinetic isotope effect at the exo-methylene carbon of al lenyl-cyclopropane in its thermal 1,3-sigmatropic shift to 3-methylene cyclopentene was found to be 1.15/D2 at 311.5-degrees-C. This is a str iking example of a rotational effect.
