Abstract
The enzyme catalyzed acetylation of racemic cis-1,3-cyclopentanediol d erivatives (+/-)-2a-d in vinyl acetate is greatly influenced by the si ze of protecting groups at the additional trans-4-hydroxymethyl functi on. The highest regio- and enantioselectivities were obtained using th e diol substrate protected with the bulky triphenylmethyl (trityl) gro up.
