Even though reactor geometry and process condition affect the product
distribution of pyrolysis products of oil shales, it is known that the
three types of oil shale give a distinctive alkane distribution. In a
given system the effect of different process conditions can be follow
ed from the analysis of respective alkane distributions. In this study
the effect of nitrogen and water vapour sweeps, the sweep velocity an
d lignite and oil shale mixtures have been studied. The alkane distrib
ution indicated the severity of pyrolytic environment and the changes
in mass distribution.
