Abstract
A polymerase chain reaction test was developed for identification of t he gram-positive urinary tract pathogen Aerococcus urinae. Oligonucleo tide primers were based on highly specific sequences within the small- subunit rRNA gene. A confirmatory test based on hybridization of the a mplified products to a highly specific internal probe was also develop ed.
