Abstract
The potential of angle-resolved Auger fine structure measurements for the determination of the orientation of adsorbed molecules was careful ly investigated by application to a well-established adsorbate system: CO on Ni(110). The result, a CO tilt angle of 16 +/- 1-degrees for th e (2 x 1)p2mg layer, is in good agreement with previously published re sults obtained with other techniques and proves the usefulness of the present approach. Experiments, interpretation, and evaluation procedur es are discussed in some detail to facilitate the application of this method and its comparison with other techniques.
