DETERMINATION OF SOME COMPLEX ELASTIC AND ELECTROMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF KDP

The described method allows the determination of velocity and attenuat ion variations introduced by low frequency alternating stresses and el ectric fields. Uniaxial stress is produced with a high load piezoelect ric actuator and controlled with a strain gauge bridge. A modified imp ulse echo overlap system with a computer controlled sampling oscillosc ope permits the measurement of very small effects. Results for Potassi um Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP) near the phase transition at 123 K are p resented and discussed.
