The resolution of a pair of enantiomers in chiral capillary electropho
resis (CE) is described by the use of a simple model. The model shows
the importance of maximising the electrophoretic mobility difference b
etween the two enantiomers, and also the influence of electroosmotic m
obility. The theory is supported by results obtained with ephedrine, a
tenolol and practolol.
