J. Raimondeau et al., SKELETAL FLUOROSIS AND FORENSIC MEDICINE - REPORT OF 2 CASES OF POSSIBLE CRIMINAL POISONING, La Revue de medecine interne, 14(4), 1993, pp. 263-267
We report txo cases of skeletal fluorosis in two men, 55 and 69 year-o
ld. The physical findings and the roentgenograms were typical and chem
ical analysis confirmed the diagnosis. Surprisingly, fluoride concentr
ations in blood and urine were increased at the beginning of the hospi
talizations and lower during the hospitalizations. The origin of fluor
intake remained unknown, leading to consider a possible criminal pois
oning. Then, we discuss the attitude of physician in a case a possible
criminal poisoning : denunce the crime to the police or not, as regar
ds french law.
