Abstract
Malignant gonadal stromal tumors are rare testicular neoplasms. Metast atic cases are characterized by tumor progression at an unpredictable pace. This report describes a testicular stromal tumor with ''bulky'' abdominal and pulmonary meatastases. After six cycles of platinum-base d combination chemotherapy the patient reached a complete remission of his pulmonary metastases and a partial regression of the retroperiton eal lymph nodes, which were subsequently completely resected. The hist ology of the resected specimen showed considerable tumor necrosis with sparce areas of vital tumor cells. Based on our experience and report s in the literature, a trial of cisplatin-based chemotherapy should be offered to patients with non-resectable Sertoli cell tumors or undiff erentiated gonadal stromal tumors.
