H. Takikawa et al., EFFECT OF TAURO-ALPHA-MURICHOLATE AND TAURO-BETA-MURICHOLATE ON ESTRADIOL-17-BETA-GLUCURONIDE-INDUCED CHOLESTASIS IN RATS, Journal of gastroenterology and hepatology, 12(1), 1997, pp. 84-86
The effect of tauro-beta-muricholate (beta MC-tau) and tauro-alpha-mur
icholate (alpha MC-tau) on oestradial-17 beta-glucuronide (E(2)17G)-in
duced cholestasis was compared with that of taurourso-deoxycholate (UD
C-tau) in rats. Like UDC-tau, alpha MC-tau and beta MC-tau infused at
the rate of 0.2 mu mol/min per 100 g bodyweight (BW) completely inhibi
ted the cholestasis induced by E(2)17G infused at the rate of 0.06 mu
mol/min per 100 g BW for 20 min. These findings indicate that PMC-tau
and alpha MC-tau are useful in protecting against various types of exp
erimental cholestasis, as well as against bile acid-induced cholestasi
s.
