Abstract
We report a case of spindle-cell adenosquamous carcinoma of the esopha gus. This represents the third case in the worldwide literature in whi ch an esophageal polypoid tumor contains adenosquamous carcinoma rathe r than the usual squamous cell carcinoma in addition to a prominent sp indle-cell element. The spindle-cell component displayed positive immu noreaction for both keratin and vimentin, as expression of bidirection al differentiation within a single neoplasm.
