Abstract
Dolichohelea Edwards, previously considered a subgenus of Atrichopogon Kieffer, is regarded as a species group of Atrichopogon, which is her ein named the Atrichopogon politus Group. Dolichohelea becomes a junio r synonym of Atrichopogon (New Synonym), and Atrichopogon politus (Edw ards) is a New Combination. The A politus species group is diagnosed a nd a key is presented to the seven included Oriental species, includin g bicolor, sp. nov. and fusciscutellum, sp. nov. from Malaysia and the Philippines. A number of Atrichopogon species described by Tokunaga f rom the Philippines belong to the politus Group, but are not treated h ere because of limited available material, and their difficult taxonom y. Species of the hystricoides Group described by Debenham from Austra lia and New Guinea, and of the jacobsoni Group from the Oriental and A ustralasian Regions are apparently closely related and poorly differen tiated from those of the politus Group.
