Abstract
The neutron-rich isotope 179Yb was produced by using the multinucleon transfer reactions 11.6 MeV/u Xe-136 + Re and 11.4 MeV/u Au-197 + W Th e isotope identification was achieved by combining mass-separation and decay spectroscopy. A decay scheme was constructed including a new is omeric state in Lu-179 with a half-life of 3.1(9) ms.
