Abstract
The polysaccharide part of the lipopolysaccharide obtained froin an en teroaggregative Escherichia coli strain isolated from a young child wi th diarrhoea in Santiago, Chile (strain 73-1) was investigated. Sugar and methylation analyses of native and partially degraded polysacchari de together with H-1-NMR and C-13-NMR spectroscopy revealed that the p olysaccharide is built of pentasaccharide repeating units.
