Surface-enhanced Raman spectra of 3-acetylpyridine (3-ACP)+nicotinic a
cid (NA)+0.1 mol l-1 NaCl solutions on polycrystalline silver electrod
es are reported in the wavenumber range 500-1750 cm-1. The data were i
nvestigated in order to draw reasonable conclusions about the molecula
r structure in the electrolytic double-layer region. Band assignments
were carried out according to the solution and surface-enhanced Raman
shifts of the individual components. The surface active species were i
dentified. A model based on an interaction between 3-ACP and NA is pro
posed to explain the observed spectra.
