Abstract
Raman and infrared spectra of 3,3-dimethylglutaric acid and its potass ium salts in aqueous solutions (H2O and D2O) were recorded from 200 to 4000 cm-1. The analysis of the polariZation of the Raman lines indica ted that 3,3-dimethylglutaric acid and its dipotassium salt belong to the C2 group whereas the acid salt belongs to the C(s) group. An assig nment of the fundamental vibrations is proposed.
