The ability to extract gallium (III) and aluminium (III) from aqueous
sodium solution by the derivatives of pyrocatechol and 2,3-dihydroxyna
phtalene has been investigated. Gallium (III) was extracted in quantit
y from 1-6 mol/dm3 NaOH by 4-alkilpyrocatechols having ten carbon atom
s. The ability to extract ortho-derivatives of pyrocatechol has been i
nvestigated. Ortho-iso-propyl, ortho-tret-buthyl groups wese proved to
decrease te ability to extract pyrocatechols. Similar effect for the
1,4-di(piperidylmethyl)-2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene was observed. Piperid
ylmethyl groups suppress the formation of micellas.
