Y. Hao et al., A QUANTITATIVE INVESTIGATION OF FATIGUE FRACTURE SURFACES BY USING THE FOURIER-TRANSFORM METHOD, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 161(2), 1993, pp. 195-200
In the present paper, the Fourier transform method (FTM) was applied i
n a study of fatigue fracture surfaces of commercial aluminum in order
to relate the geometrical parameters on the fracture surface to the m
icrostructure of the material. The results indicate that the power spe
ctrum and the wave number are inversely related. An exponent n was ind
exed by curve fitting the power spectrum peaks of the fracture profile
and was shown to correlate with the crack propagation rate da/dN, and
da/dN can be inferred approximately from the correlation function.
