BIOCHEMICAL-CHANGES IN THE LIVER CAUSED BY THE EFFECT OF PRECURSORS OF N-NITROSODIMETHYLAMINE IN RATS KEPT IN CHERNOBYL AFTER THE ACCIDENT AT NUCLEAR-POWER-PLANT
Pm. Galenko et al., BIOCHEMICAL-CHANGES IN THE LIVER CAUSED BY THE EFFECT OF PRECURSORS OF N-NITROSODIMETHYLAMINE IN RATS KEPT IN CHERNOBYL AFTER THE ACCIDENT AT NUCLEAR-POWER-PLANT, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 15(2), 1993, pp. 19-23
In the fourth generation of rats born and kept in the Chernobyl zone,
the liver metabolic activity has been shown to increase while the cont
ent of cytochrome P450 in hepatocytes decrease. Chronic or acute admin
istration of sodium nitrite alone and in combination with amidopyrine
led to a decrease of liver metabolic activity as well as DNA single-st
rand breakings in hepatocytes of these animals. Similar treatment caus
ed an opposite effect in the intact animals.
