THE EFFECT OF MODIFIERS OF POLYAMINE METABOLISM ON THE GROWTH OF TRANSPLANTED TUMORS IN MICE

The influence of the polyamine metabolism modifiers on tumour cells wa s studied in vivo and in vitro. Norspermidine, a structural analogue o f spermidine, difluoromethylornithine, coordination compounds of metal s and ascorbic acid were chosen as modifiers. These compounds were sho wn to reduce differently the polyamine content in the cells. Some of t hem given alone or in certain combinations have exerted an inhibitory influence on the growth of tumours in experimental animals.
