Abstract
The reaction of substituted alpha- and beta-thienylcarboxamides with c hlorocarbonylsulfenyl chloride gave 5-thienyl-substituted 1,3,4-oxathi azol-2-ones. Decarboxylation of the latter by heating in o-dichloroben zene generated in situ alpha- and beta-thienylnitrile sulfides, which in the presence of dipolarophiles [dimethyl fumarate, N-phenylmaleinim ide, chloro(trichloro)acetonitrile] give the corresponding 3-thienyl-s ubstituted DELTA2-isothiazolines and -chloromethyl(trichloromethyl)-1, 2,4-thiadiazoles.
