Abstract
Tensiometers and blocks are in common use to measure soil water suctio n. The working range of tensiometers is only 0.7 to 0.8 bar. To measur e higher values of soil water tensions psychrometric methods are appli cable, but for tensions more than 0.7 to 0.8 bar only block methods ma y be used. Some sources of errors may restrict the accuracy to measure soil water tension or soil water content. Under favorable conditions a range of the measured parameters can be given. At no account the blo ck. method should be accepted uncritically.
