As. Kharitonov et al., FERRISILICATE ANALOGS OF ZSM-5 ZEOLITE AS CATALYSTS FOR ONE-STEP OXIDATION OF BENZENE TO PHENOL, Applied catalysis. A, General, 98(1), 1993, pp. 33-43
The role of iron in the catalytic properties of ZSM-5 ferrisilicate an
alogs in the oxidation of benzene to phenol by dinitrogen monoxide has
been studied within a wide range of iron concentrations (from 0.003 t
o 4.8 wt.-% Fe2O3). The samples of the Fe-Si system with optimal iron
content, as well as previously studied Fe-Al-Si samples of the same ze
olite structure, were found to be far superior to known catalysts. A r
eaction mechanism is suggested, where the active form of the surface o
xygen produced by dinitrogen monoxide decomposition is of key importan
ce. Zeolite acidity was tested and its role in the catalytic activity
is discussed.
