Abstract
To assign C-13-NMR chemical shifts of aryl groups bonded to Group 14 e lements, an incremental system for estimating such shifts is presented . The system gives consistent assignments for a broad range of linear compounds (Ar4M, Ar6M2, Ar6MM', Ar(m)Ge(n)) and also for some tin-sulp hur and lead-sulphur heterocycles (Ar2MS)3. The influence of the Group 14 elements on the C-13(ipso, ortho, meta, para) chemical shifts is d iscussed.
