The chloroarsinidene compound [CP'(CO)2Mn]2AsCl (1) (Cp'=eta5-C5H4(CH3
)) reacts with NaR (R = C2Ph) or LiR (R = ph, C2(t)Bu), respectively,
to give the anionic adduct complexes [CP'(CO)2Mn]2AsR2- (4) (R = Ph; 4
a, R = C2(t)Bu; 4b, R = C2Ph; 4c). The complexes 4 reveal interesting
redox properties. The structures of {Li(12-K-4)2}+.4a and {Li(12-K-4)2
}+.4b have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The transformatio
n of 1 into 4 involves the substitution products [Cp'(CO)2Mn]2AsR (2)
(R = Ph; 2a) as intermediates.
