Gastric outlet obstruction by a gallstone is a very uncommon clinical
entity; it was first reported by Bouveret in 1896. In the patient pres
ented, we were able to show the development of formation of the bilioe
nteric fistula with massive arterial bleeding from the eroded cystic a
rtery until duodenal occlusion. The process was endoscopically and rad
iologically observed and documented. Although the diagnosis was made i
mmediately, the patient had to undergo surgery because the gallstone p
roved to be too large to be extracted endoscopically.
